The 4th Okage cup was held from 15th and 16th May 2013 in Mie prefecture.
In the final of the 4th Okage cup, Ichiriki Ryo 3-dan pro (B) defeats Anzai Nobuaki 6-dan pro by resignation after 225 moves. He won his first Okage cup title. Anzai could not achieve the third consecutive Okage cup title.
Ichiriki became a pro in 2011 when he was thirteen years old.
The first game of the 68th Honinbo title match (best-of-seven series) was played in Shimane prefecture on 16 and 17 May 2013. (Shimane is a well known place where Honinbo Dosaku was born.) Iyama (W) beat Takao Shinji 9-dan pro by 4.5 points after 266 moves. Iyama made a good start to defend Honinbo.

Jonas Welticke, a 17-year-old German high school student, started insei at the Nihon Ki-in Tokyo from 11th May 2013.
Having won 10 out of 11 matches in the first week, he made a good start to get promoted to the D class.
