Iyama was third place in World Go Championship-The Fujitsu Cup

  The 24th World Go Championship-The Fujitsu Cup was held in The Nihon Ki-in in Osaka from 10 August till 14 August 2011.
  It was postponed from April to above schedule due to the earthquake disaster.
  The winner of the tournament is a Korean youngster, Park Jeong-Hwan who wins against Qiu Jun from China who was third at the previous Fujitsu Cup tournament.
  Iyama shows us his potential to become a world champion in near future.

the final game, Sakai or Hane?

  With the score level at 2-all, the fifth game was held at The Kansai Kiin on 29 August.
  Hane won the final game against Sakai and Hane gets his first Gosei title.

Game 2 (10 July). Sakai (B) by 1.5 points
Game 3 (29 July). Hane (B) by 3.5 points
Game 4 (18 August). Hane (W) by 6.5 points.

Iyama becomes the challenger of Tengen

  In the play-off to decide the challenger for the 37th Tengen title, Iyama Meijin defeated O Meien 9dan and made his first challenge for a title. The play-off between the two to decide the challenger to Yuki Satoshi Tengen was held at the Nihon Ki-in on 25 August; taking white, Iyama forced a resignation. The first game will be held on 24 October 2011.

Europe Go Congress in Bordeaux

  The Nihon Kiin sent Masaki Takemiya 9p, Michael Redmond 9p, Chizu Kobayashi 5p, Hsieh Yi Min 5p and Narumi Osawa5p to The 55th Europe Go Congress 2011 which was held in Bordeaux, France. They all stayed in Bordeaux from 27th July till 2 August 2011 in Bordeaux to hold Master Course and big simultaneous games for charity for victims of Tohoku-Pacific Ocean earthquake.
