Amazing Rina Becomes the Youngest-ever Title Holder!

  The final game of the 1st Aidu Chuo Hospital Cup was played in 26th and 27th June 2014 in Aiduwakamatsu-shi. The final game is the first ever two days-match with a sealed move at the Women's tournament. (The time allowance is five hours each and when a player reaches the final 5 minutes of her time allowance, byo-yomi begins.)
  The finalists are Okuda Aya 3p and Fujisawa Rina 2p. Taking black, Fujisawa won the title by resignation after 193 moves.
  She gets a title at the age of 15 years and 9 months, which is the youngest record in women's go history of Japan.
  She gets 7 million Japanese Yen (*close to about USD 70,000), which is the highest winner's prize of the women's pro tournaments in Japan.

- Semi-Final: Fujisawa (white) beat Mannami Nao 3p by resignation.
- Quarter Final: Fujisawa (black) beat Hsieh Yi Min (Women's Meijin) by 3.5 points
- Preliminary Rounds: Fujisawa beat Yoshihara Yukari 6p, Osawa Narumi 4p and Hara Sachiko 4p.

Profile of Fujisawa Rina:
Fujisawa Rina was born in 1998. She became a pro shodan in 2010 at the age of 11 years and 6 months, which is the youngest-ever player in Japan to become a pro. She was promoted 2 dan pro in February 2013.
Her grandfather is legendary Fujisawa Shuko (Honorary Kisei).

Kono Challenge for Gosei

  Kono Rin 9p earned the right to challenge for Gosei title match two years in row.
  In the playoff match to decide the challenger for the 39th Gosei title, played in 29th May 2014 at the Nihon Ki-in, Kono Rin 9p (B) defeated Cho Li Yu 8p by resignation. Cho could not become the challenger for his first title match.

Igo Master's Cup Finalists! Chikun vs Satoru

  The semifinal games of the 4th Fumakilla Igo Master's Cup was played on 21 June 2014 in Hiroshima. Kobayashi Satoru 9p beats Kobayashi Koichi (Honorary Kisei) by resignation and Cho Chikun (25th Honinbo) defeats Ishii Kunio 9p by resignation. Satoru won the Master's Cup last year and Chikun won the 1st Master's Cup in 2011. The final game will be held on 12 July 2014 at the Nihon Ki-in.

    

Updated Information on Fantastic Summer Go Camp 2014!

  The Nihon Ki-in Summer Go Camp for overseas go players will be held from 26th August till 4th September 2014. We have provided you with the following new information:

New Japanese star will play a special match!
A 17 years old boy, Ichiriki Ryo 7p will play for a special exhibition match against a winner of the league tournament of the Summer Go Camp!
*Ichiriki Ryo 7p, won the 1st GLOBIS Cup World Go U-20 (which tournament is to decide who is a number one player of youth in the world) in May 2014 and entered the Kisei league at the youngest age in Japanese history of go in March 2014.

We will have ‘a Go Seigen Special' at the Summer Go Camp 2014!

Michael Redmond 9p will give you a special lecture from the match of Go and Kitani Kamakura Juban Go!
*Redmond 9p joined a study group of Go Seigen in 1990's
